Strategy and Literature Development Desk Meeting

Within the framework of working desk meetings of the UNIW International Family Institute (IFI / UAE), the online meeting of the Strategy and Literature Development Desk chaired by Prof. Dr. Khadija Mufid was held with the participation of desk members, heads of other desks, and experts.

The meeting commenced with the opening speech of UNIW Secretary General Atty. Ali Kurt, who briefed participants on the preceding two desk meetings. Briefly evaluating regional developments in the Islamic geography, Kurt stated: "Prior to this, we convened the meetings of the International Agreements & Public Policy Desk and the Family Jurisprudence Desk, followed by the International Relations Desk chaired by Aicha Bel Hadjar. On Friday, November 13, we will hold the joint meeting of the Fieldwork & Inventory Desk and the Press, Media & Promotion Desk." He then provided detailed briefings on UNIW operations before passing the floor to KAGE Co-President Dr. Rabiye Yılmaz for her welcoming address.

Dr. Rabiye Yılmaz stated: "Following our last meeting, we eagerly looked forward to coming together with you again. On this occasion, I would like to convey the activities accomplished within the scope of IFI since our last gathering. Funda Hanım and her team conducted a very valuable and crucial study on the family framework. We launched and presented this study together during a distinguished gathering.

The launch program took place with the honored participation of First Lady Mrs. Emine Erdoğan and T.C. Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk. During this event, we had the opportunity to present our own projects and the International Family Charter. We formally presented our prepared workbooks on International Family Charters and the International Family Institute to them. It was a highly productive meeting. The study conducted by Funda Hanım is comprehensive and serves as a concrete methodological model for us. Insha'Allah, its English and Arabic translations will be completed shortly so that we can implement it as a similar framework." She then handed the floor to Prof. Dr. Khadija Mufid.

In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Khadija Mufid stated: "My presentation draws inspiration from the foundational and strategic objectives defined by the International Family Institute. Because UNIW is an umbrella organization encompassing almost the entire Islamic world as well as Islamic organizations in non-Muslim countries, I attempted to define the strategic foundations upon which joint-vision institutions and their operational programs must be built. The family issue is a specialized domain for Islamic researchers. Therefore, when researchers attempt to formulate strategies and innovative ideas for constructing Islamic society, they focus on the family as a core component of overall strategy alongside politics and economics, viewing the family as a specialized sphere. Importing family-related legislation and concepts from non-Islamic systems has led to our legal erosion and fragmentation. I present my proposal based on eight strategic axes, because all schemes aimed at dismantling the Islamic community begin and end with the family," outlining her main headings as follows:

  • Standardizing the definition of family according to the Islamic perspective,
  • Strengthening regional and international family networks,
  • Establishing scientific standards and knowledge frameworks for finalizing strategic reports and monitoring family trends across the Islamic world,
  • Defining stages governing identity and development in alignment with decision-makers' Islamic values,
  • Preparing an international advocacy team focusing on the family in the Islamic world,
  • Generating concepts that serve the family within a unified perception and integrative approach,
  • Organizing training programs targeting Islamic civil society leaders active in the family domain,
  • Fostering Islamic public opinion on the family by enhancing communication and interaction.

The meeting concluded following Khadija Mufid's detailed presentation and evaluations from participants.
