27th Council Meeting

The 27th UNIW Council Meeting was held at Akgun Hotel Istanbul on 11th January 2020 with the participation of council members from 20 countries.

The first session of the meeting started with recitation of Holy Quran, followed opening speech and the reading of meeting agendas by UNIW Secretary General, Atty. Ali Kurt. The Secretary General also provide a general review of the activities carried out since the previous Council meeting. He then briefed the council on the latest works conducted by UNIW, and shared on the ongoing and planned future projects.

Atty. Ali Kurt then shared the outcomes of his participation to Kuala Lumpur Summit 2019, with the council members. Emphasizing on the importance of such summit, Atty. Ali Kurt said, “The summit is a very important event. I wish it will be continued for the well-being of the Islamic world.”

After that, the President of Humanitarian Aid Platform (İYP), Mr Musab Aydin made his presentation on the negotiations and studies carried out under IYP.

The meeting then proceeded with a discussion led by the President of Young UNIW, Mr Serdar Bayram, on topics related to Young UNIW. Mr Serdar said, “We hope that our council members could nominate youth representatives from their organizations to be a part of Young UNIW Council member. Through the council, we can easily work together with these youth representatives to cooperate and undertake initiatives under Young UNIW.”

At the end of the council meeting, membership application from 19 institutions was reviewed and their membership was approved. UNIW Secretary General, Atty. Ali Kurt thanked everyone for their participation. The 27th Council Meeting ended with a prayer and a group photo.
