Meeting on Cooperation and Coordination in Humanitarian Work in Sudan
📅 November 13, 2025 | Istanbul
The Union of NGOs of The Islamic World (UNIW) organized a "Meeting on Cooperation and Coordination in Humanitarian Work in Sudan" to strengthen national and international solidarity against the deepening humanitarian crisis in Sudan. The meeting served as an important platform bringing together Sudanese organizations and humanitarian aid actors from various countries, primarily Turkey, aiming to strengthen field coordination.
The Deepening Humanitarian Crisis and the Need for Solidarity in Sudan
The conflicts in Sudan since 2023 have left the country facing one of the world's deepest humanitarian crises. According to open sources:
- More than 10 million people have been displaced,
- More than 37 million people in the country are in need of humanitarian assistance,
- Health, education, and a large part of basic public services have collapsed.
This situation once again highlights the vital importance of a coordinated and needs-based response from the international community. The meeting, spearheaded by the UNICEF, aimed precisely at this need, creating a concrete foundation for solidarity.
Meeting's Purpose and Strategic Objectives
The event aimed to ensure stronger coordination between humanitarian organizations operating in and outside Sudan, and international stakeholders. The main objectives of the meeting were summarized as follows:
- To establish effective cooperation networks among institutions operating inside and outside Sudan,
- To strengthen field coordination by bringing together international organizations and Sudanese institutions,
- To provide measurable and effective humanitarian aid by directing resources to real needs,
- To ensure that aid is delivered fairly, transparently, and sustainably,
- To ensure that the flow of resources to Sudan is carried out safely and regularly without disrupting the work of institutions,
- To increase international awareness that the conflict in Sudan is not only a civil war but also a process of destabilization triggered by external
interventions. Topics Discussed in the Sessions
The meeting consisted of three main sessions and assessed the multifaceted humanitarian situation in Sudan in all its aspects.

Reporting and Promotion Opportunities for Sudanese Institutions
Through this meeting, Sudan-based organizations will have the opportunity to directly contact the UNICEF and share:
Their institutional profiles,
Their ongoing humanitarian projects,
Their priority needs,
And current situation reports from the field. This mechanism will support both a more accurate understanding of the real situation on the ground and the channeling of resources to the right avenues.
