International Relations Desk Meeting was held online within the scope of UNIW International Family Institute (IFI) Studies

The meeting started with the opening speech of UNIW Secretary General Atty. Ali Kurt Bey and sharing information about the table meetings. Kurt said, “In the previous desk meeting, Family Law and International Agreements and Public Policies tables came together. We shared the decisions we made at the meeting with you separately. As you know, we have six desks. With these six tables, we will have completed all the tables by coming together with different tables every 15 days. We are planning our next table meeting with the Strategy and Literature Development Desk upon the request of Prof Dr Khadija Mufid and left the floor to Dr Rabiye Yılmaz, the co-chair of the Women’s Family and Youth Commission, to briefly summarize what has been done in the past.

Yılmaz briefly explained the activities carried out within the scope of IFI and underlined that the family is at a much more risk at this point. Yılmaz continued her speech, “For this reason, our international family agreement is of great importance, as stated in every (high advisory board) HAB meeting and in all meetings. And we should aim to work the sub-items and action plan of this as tables. Necessary efforts have begun to be made on this issue. She said God bless you for your participation.”

After Yılmaz, the Head of the International Relations Desk, Aicha Bel Hadjar gave a short speech about the activities and targets. In her speech, Hadjar said, “The first and primary goal of the international relations desk is to spread the understanding of family to the whole world. The audience we are targeting is not only Islamic NGOs, but also institutions and organizations that have a solid idea on these issues and protect the family institution, even if they are non-Muslim. Our project transcends these international agreements and local laws. We should protect the family structure according to human values, as it is a humanitarian duty ”and stated the work that the table should do.

The meeting continued with participants expressing their opinions and then ended.
