Foundation of Volunteer Organizations of Turkey
Short Introduction
Foundation of Volunteer Organizations of Turkey (TGTV) was established in Istanbul, on December 22, 1994, as an umbrella organization with the participation of 109 founding members representing 87 volunteer organizations to achieve unity and to cooperate with each other among the volunteer organizations in terms of goals, time and facilities.
TGTV gives priority to the activities that support the institutional equipment of its members which represent the national and spiritual dynamics of our country, carries the problems of the Islamic world, and the injustices against human rights and justice.
Activities
- TGTV currently has 225 members. As an umbrella organization, TGTV, aiming coordination and cooperation between NGOs, organized many organizations for these purposes. Briefly:
- Organized the “Conference of the Islamic World’s NGOs”.
- Led the establishment of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW).
- Has contributed to democratization of Turkey.
- Prepared the New Constitutional Frame of Reference.
- Published the Kurdish Issue Report.
- Led the establishment of the Palestinian Platform.
- Held “NGO Congress” meetings.
- Held International NGO Fair and Jerusalem Meeting.
- Held “NGO Platform” meetings throughout the country.
- Organized “Civil Society Measures on Family and Youth Problems” sessions with the participation of the related ministry.
- Held working meetings on Turkish Cypriots and Civil Society Relations.
- Served as a Member of the Development and Management Board of Istanbul Development Agency
- Hosted UN World Humanitarian “Turkey National Consultation Meeting” Summit
- Held the Yenikapı Meeting, with the participation of the President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker
- Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TGNA), under the slogan “Millions of breaths, one voice against terror,”
- Coordinated the national aid campaigns such as “A Bread, a Blanket” and “I Need Your Help”, by bringing together public institutions, voluntary organizations and citizens for Syria.
- Organized festival programs with the participation of the President, the Speaker of TGNA, and Istanbulities.
- Held NGO Academical programs.

Organized the Yenikapı “Damn with cruelty, support for Jerusalem.” Meeting, which President, Prime Minister, the Speaker of TGNA and heads of state from the Islamic World attended.
