Short Introduction
It was founded in Istanbul in 1994 by Retired General Sami Karamisir, businessman and industrialist Ibrahim Aslan and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akgunduz, in order to support the researches on Ottoman history, civilization, law and culture. The moral effort is of Sami Karamisir Pasha while the financial support is of Mr. Ibrahim Aslan. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees include Mustafa Kavurmaci, Mustafa Kuralkan, Ismail Erbay and Assoc. Dr. Said Ozturk. The Foundation, which has publications in various genres about the Ottoman State, has been operating since 1999 with its headquarters in front of Gulhane Park.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akgunduz
He was born in Diyarbakır in 1955. He finished Gaziantep Imam-Hatip and Gaziantep High School Sciences Faculty. He graduated from Erzurum University Faculty of Islamic Sciences in 1980 and from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1982. He became a law associate professor in Konya Selcuk University Faculty of Law in 1987 and a law professor in Dumlupinar University in 1993. In 1997-1998 he was a visiting professor at Princeton University. He is still the President of the Rotterdam Islamic University. Married with two children, he speaks Arabic, Dutch, English and Persian.
