Short Introduction
The Foundation for Research In Islamic Sciences was founded in 1970 by 48 scientists and businessmen including Numan Kurtulmus and the late Korkut Ozal. The founding purpose of the foundation is to establish research centers, to provide research scholarships, to establish libraries and to do research about every branch of Islamic sciences. The Foundation organized scientific meetings to realize this purpose and published these notifications and negotiations in book form. Some of the symposiums that are published as books titled; ‘Today’s Family’, ‘Ahl-i Sunnah in History and Today’, ‘Position of Sunnah in Islam’ and ‘International and Controversial Scientific Meetings’. Currently, the Foundation, which has 16 branches in Istanbul, has a large library with more than 4000 books in the center of Fatih.

Activities
The Foundation for Research in Islamic Sciences has been organizing seminars regularly since the day it was founded. The Tafsir Seminars were conducted by Prof. Dr. Ali Ozek or a Lecturer of Tafsir Teaching Member of the Religious Studies. Apart from this, seminars on fiqh (Islamic law) and hadith (the prophet muhammad’s sayings) are held every year on Saturdays in October and June, with the hodjas (muslim preacher) that are assigned by the foundation.

President
Prof. Dr. Ali Ozek
He was born in 1932 in Mugla. In 1951 he entered al-Ezher University in Cairo. In 1955, he finished the Faculty of the Usul’üddin and the department of the Qur’an and Hadith Sciences Department of the same faculty. In the 1962-1963 school year, he became a lecturer in Arabic Language and Literature at the Istanbul High Islamic Institute and later became a professor of the department. In 1970, he founded The Foundation For Research In Islamic Sciences along with 48 colleague. He has been the president of the foundation since 1982. Ali Ozek speaks Arabic, English and Russian. He is married and has three children.
