Pakistan, India: We Call All Parties to Act with Restraint and Prudence

The latest tension between Pakistan and India had highlighted the Kashmir issue and these developments constitutes as a serious threat, not only for the two countries but for the whole world. Kashmir is a location of highly strategic importance, especially in terms of peace and security in South Asia.

The Kashmir issue, has been an ongoing conflict among two countries with nuclear weapons capability, in which since 1947 they already undergo four wars, and as these recent conflict could bring both countries back into the brink of war, this situation need to be resolved as soon as possible in respect to international law and United Nations resolutions.

It is imperative that the problem be resolved urgently in the manner of principles agreed upon by the members of the United Nations, as the UN Security Council had provided two resolutions on this matter.

One of the most prominent reference of the UN Charter in regard to the decisions of Security Council are “The right for every society to self-determination”, and in context of this rule, any repressive strategy taken on the civilian population should cease immediately, and the resolution recommended by international community for Jammu & Kashmir region should be abided by India without any delay.
