12th African Foundations Development Gathering

12th African Foundations Development Gathering

El- Munteda El- Islami Trust organization headquartered in United Kingdom, a member of UNIW, organized 12th African Organizations Development Gathering in 23- 30 April 2015 in Istanbul. Organized within cooperation framework with UNIW, approximately 50 nongovernmental organizations from 13 countries operating in Africa participated to the gathering.
 
Turkish organizations conducting activities in education, health and humanitarian aid in Africa such as Bashir Foundation, Religious Affairs Association, IHH, Ihlas Association, Architects and Engineers Group, Earth Doctors Foundation, Earth Engineers Foundation, ASDER, ASSAM participated to the gathering. Turkish and African NGOs were encouraged to visit each other for mutual cooperation and exchange of information and experiences between the organizations in one week’s gathering period.
 
Opening program of 12th African Organizations Development Gathering took place on 23rd April. Opening speech was delivered by the Halid Favvaz, Director of Al Muntada Al Islami Trust Foundation that is the organizer of the conference. Mentioning education, health and relief activities of UK based organizations in Africa, Mr Favvaz emphasized that they gathered to seek answer for the question of what might be done more together. Second speaker of the conference Muhammad Ahmed Luh exchanged information and opinions what might be done for Africa on the side of nongovernmental organizations.
 
Att. Ali Kurt, Secretary General of UNIW participated to the conference as solution partner from Turkey started his speech saying “Welcome to your second homeland Turkey” addressing to the organizations participating to the conference from Africa. In his speech, Mr Kurt emphasized the fact that “Africa is the future of the world”.
 
After the speeches, Turkish NGOs made presentations informing their activities in Africa. After the presentations, Turkish and African NGOs established cooperation relations with each other through round table meetings.
