Meeting Condemning the Rising Anti-Islam Sentiment in the West

The anti-Islamic statements originating in the Western world, particularly by French President Emmanuel Macron, sparked immense indignation across the Islamic geography. Having previously voiced its stance via a joint press statement with 354 member NGOs from 66 countries, UNIW gathered prominent opinion leaders from across the globe in an online meeting titled "Meeting Denouncing Rising Islamophobia in the West" to reiterate that Islamophobia does not constitute freedom of expression.

Speakers participating from Turkey included UNIW Honorary President Necmi Sadıkoğlu, UNIW Deputy Secretary General Eyüp Akbal, TGTV Board and Executive Committee Chairman Atty. Hamza Akbulut, International Jurists Union (UHUB) Secretary General Atty. Necati Ceylan, Istanbul Women and Women's Organizations Association (İKADDER) President Funda Akyol, and Yemen Friendship and Solidarity Association President Dr. Abdulraqeb Abdullah Hussein Obad.

Prominent international speakers joining the meeting included Prof. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS); Ahmad Azam Ab Rahman, President of Global Peace Mission Malaysia (GPM); Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General of the Kashmiri American Council (USA); Dr. Imad Said, President of ACA Lebanon; Aicha Bel Hadjar, President of Algerian Economic Gathering (Algeria); Dr. Soumaia Ben Khaldoon, Director of Muntada Al-Zahra for Moroccan Women (Morocco); Dr. Fadila Grine, Chief Adviser of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF / Algeria); and S. M. Rasheduzzaman, President of the Social Agency for Welfare and Advancement in Bangladesh (SAWAB).

At the conclusion of the meeting, rising Islamophobia in the West was unanimously condemned through a joint declaration published in three languages.
