UNIW International Family Institute (IFI) Family Fiqh and Public Policy Consultation Meeting

Pursuant to the decision taken at the recent High Advisory Board meeting to conduct periodic assemblies, the first online meeting of the UNIW International Family Institute (IFI / UAE) working desks was convened jointly with the Family Jurisprudence Desk and the International Agreements & Public Policy Desk. The meeting was attended by members of both desks, chairs of other desks, and invited experts.

The meeting commenced with the opening address of UNIW Secretary General Atty. Ali Kurt regarding current developments and desk assembly schedules.

Subsequently, Women, Family and Youth Commission (KAGE) Co-President Dr. Rabiye Yılmaz delivered a short address. Yılmaz stated: "Through these online meetings, we aim to make our working desks fully operational and take concrete steps. On July 17, we convened a consultation meeting in Turkey with academicians conducting research on women, family, and youth across various universities. Our objective was to establish an academic foundation for IFI operations and enrich them through scholarly work. During that assembly, participants emphasized the urgent need for statistical data, updated research in conceptual and jurisprudential fields, and developing a tailored communication language for engaging youth. Consequently, we believe concrete, advanced steps must now be taken for the Family Charter that we meticulously prepared."

Continuing her speech, Yılmaz led evaluations of recent family-centered developments in Turkey and across the world within the framework of recent assessment reports submitted by these two working desks.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Secretary General Atty. Ali Kurt reaffirmed that working desk meetings will continue periodically. The Secretary General added that each desk will conduct specialized studies and submit periodic reports accordingly.
