12th African Associations Development Meeting

The 12th of the African Organizations Development Meetings, traditionally organized by the UK-based Al-Munteda Al-Islami Trust, a member of UNIW, was held in Istanbul on 23-30 April 2015. Approximately 50 non-governmental organizations from 13 countries operating in Africa attended the meeting held within the framework of cooperation with UNIW.

Organizations working in the fields of education, health and aid in Africa such as Beşir Association, Diyanet Foundation, IHH, İhlas Foundation, Architects and Engineers Group, Earth Doctors Association, Earth Engineers Association, ASDER, ASSAM from Turkey attended the meeting. During the one-week meeting, African NGOs were encouraged to visit Turkish NGOs, creating a basis for mutual cooperation and exchange of views.

The opening program of the 12th African Organizations Development Meeting was held on April 23. The opening speech of the program was made by Khalid Favvaz, President of Al Muntada Al Islami Trust Association, the organizer of the conference. Favvaz emphasized that they came together to seek answers to the question of what more can be done together, touching on the education, health and aid activities of UK-based organizations in Africa. Muhammed Ahmed Luh, who gave the second speech, shared his knowledge and opinions about what can be done by non-governmental organizations for Africa.

Participating in the conference as a solution partner in Türkiye, the host was UNIW Secretary General Atty. Ali Kurt said to the organizations participating in the program from Africa, "Welcome to your second homeland, Turkey" and added, "Africa is the future of the world." Following the speeches, Turkish NGOs made presentations containing information about their work in Africa. Following the presentations, collaborations were established between African and Turkish NGOs through round table meetings.
