The Kashmir Issue Discussed at Istanbul University
A comprehensive panel titled 'The Kashmir Issue: Analysis of an Ongoing Tragedy Since 1947' was organized by Istanbul University with diplomatic and academic participation.
The Kashmir Issue was thoroughly examined during a panel organized by the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the SUİK Club of Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. The event was held with the participation of Consul General of Pakistan in Istanbul Bilal Khan Pasha, Istanbul University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sedat Murat, Vice Dean of Faculty of Economics Prof. Dr. İsmail Kızılırmak, and UNIW Asia, Europe, and Americas Desk Coordinator Umer Farooq.
Titled 'The Kashmir Issue: Analysis of an Ongoing Tragedy Since 1947', the panel comprised two academic sessions. Delivering the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. İsmail Kızılırmak stressed that mounting tensions in Kashmir represent an unsustainable crisis, emphasizing: 'As Turkey, we have always contributed to de-escalating tensions affecting our brotherly Pakistani people and achieving a just resolution. As academics, we will continue our efforts to keep this issue prominently on the international agenda.'
Consul General Bilal Khan Pasha delivered the keynote address in the first session, highlighting: 'The Kashmir dispute remains an unresolved issue where UN resolutions have long been disregarded. In many dimensions, the hardships endured by the Kashmiri people closely parallel the tragic realities faced by the Palestinian people.'
