UNIW Delegation Holds High-Level Meetings in Yemen
A Turkish delegation including UNIW, Deputy Minister of Interior, and AFAD President conducted an official mission to Yemen to inspect humanitarian needs.
A high-level Turkish delegation comprising Deputy Minister of Interior İsmail Çataklı, AFAD President Mehmet Güllüoğlu, AFAD Recovery Department Head Mahmud Ötegen, and UNIW representatives carried out an official visit to Yemen on January 14, 2019, to formulate sustainable solutions to the humanitarian crisis.
The mission commenced with an official audience with Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed at the Prime Ministry office in Aden. Prime Minister Abdulmalik shared the immense economic and public health challenges facing Yemen since the conflict began in 2015, expressing his deep confidence in the steadfast humanitarian support of brotherly nations like Turkey.
Deputy Minister Çataklı affirmed Turkey's unwavering commitment to Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity, stating full readiness to collaborate with legitimate authorities in alleviating human suffering through TİKA and international NGO coordination.
The delegation subsequently convened with the Minister of Local Administration and Head of the Supreme Relief Committee, Abdul Raqeeb Fateh, and his team, joined by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jamal Hussein and Humanitarian Coordinator Mohammed Al-Saudi. The mission also met with Minister of Interior Ahmed bin Ahmed Al-Maysari and Minister of Technical Education Prof. Abdulrezzaq Al-Ashwal before concluding their mission via diplomatic consultations at the Turkish Embassy in Amman.
