Public Statement on the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement

BISMILLAHIR-RAHMANIR-RAHIM

As the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (IDSB), since the very first day of our establishment, we have worked with unwavering sincerity and determination for the unity, solidarity, civil development, and independence of the Muslim Ummah and its lands.

At a time of profound trial and adversity, when our region is being subjected to military, economic, and cultural assaults and its borders are being destabilized through manufactured tensions, the signing of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement by three great brotherly nations, which serve and safeguard the Islamic world, has brought us immense joy and renewed our hopes for the future of our Ummah. The historic signatures placed by the leaders of the Republic of Türkiye, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who came together in Mecca al-Mukarramah under the shadow of Al-Masjid al-Haram, represent one of the strongest and most strategic manifestations in our time of the historical and spiritual responsibility we have carried upon our shoulders for centuries.

The fact that this historic agreement was signed in Mecca al-Mukarramah, the qibla of Islam and its holiest city, proclaims to the entire world that the foundations of this alliance are not built upon temporary political interests, but upon an unshakable bond of faith and brotherhood.

As it is impossible to speak of civil development and social prosperity in a region where security and stability have not been established, the strong foundation provided by this historic pact will also enable our civil society organizations to carry out their projects on the ground with greater security and effectiveness.

As IDSB, we express our gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan for taking this auspicious step. We sincerely hope that, in the future, this pact will evolve into a multidimensional framework of institutional integration encompassing political, economic, cultural, and technological fields. We also hope that other brotherly Muslim countries will join this circle of security and development through a shared declaration of will.

We pray to Almighty Allah that the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement may contribute to peace and security throughout all oppressed lands—foremost among them our sacred city of Al-Quds, which remains under occupation and oppression, and the oppressed people of Gaza—and that it may serve as a means toward the unity of the Ummah.

Respectfully announced to the public.

Eyüp Akbal
Secretary General
