Aid to Yemen Consulted During Turkish Red Crescent Visit

We had a meeting with İbrahim Altan Bey, General Director of the Red Crescent, in his office. Information was given about the current projects of UNIW. Salah Bates Bey, President of Veysel Karani Association, provided information about the latest situation in Yemen. In the past years, the fate of two ships carrying aid supplies to Yemen and the problems experienced during the distribution of these aids were consulted.

Mr. İbrahim stated that the Yemeni NGOs in Turkey could not act together and coordinated, and that this coordination could be achieved under the umbrella of UNIW. He emphasized that a delegation including Yemeni NGOs should be established before the aid ships to be sent from Turkey to Yemen depart and that this delegation should constantly act in coordination with UNIW-Red Crescent-AFAD.
