Declaration Regarding Qatar
UNIW press statement calling for an end to the Qatar blockade during Ramadan, calling for brotherhood, restraint, and Islamic Ummah unity.
The Islamic geography is undergoing troubled days amid fragmentation when we desperately need our Prophet's (pbuh) definition: "You are a single Ummah."
Instead of pursuing an approach to compensate for points of dispute among Muslims who share one Lord, one Book, one Prophet, and one Qibla—and are obligated to establish unity and togetherness on every scale—Muslims faced a blockade against Qatar during the blessed and virtuous days of holy Ramadan.
This recent crisis is the latest manifestation that dirty ambitions over our geography—particularly the Middle East, the heart of the Islamic world—never cease, as enemies of Islam cast seeds of discord through finely planned knots for their capitalist interests, turning our region into a bloody chessboard through insidious games.
In today's conjuncture, international power centers desire to design a geography divided into smaller pieces, weak, and exposed to external influence, sharing all wealth through self-created maps, and ruling over energy and raw material resources and corridors at will.
In such an environment, contrary to the verse "They are stern against disbelievers, merciful among themselves!" (Al-Fath: 29), suffocating one's own religious brother and declaring renowned Islamic scholars like Yusuf al-Qaradawi as terrorists amounts to becoming an instrument of these dirty plans!
Amidst so much blood and tears shed across our geography, this event demonstrates once again how desperately the Islamic World needs to get to know one another, develop sustainable joint projects, protect its own heritage, and determine its own future.
Dispute and enmity do not suit adherents of Tawhid.
We invite all parties to end brotherly conflict in a manner worthy of holy Ramadan and approaching Eid, calling for restraint, brotherhood, affection, and cooperation.
