Press Statement: Recent Tragic Events in Friendly Nation Sri Lanka

We strongly condemn and denounce the inhumane terrorist attacks carried out against three churches and hotels in Sri Lanka in April, which resulted in the tragic loss of numerous innocent lives and injured hundreds of individuals. On the occasion of this heinous tragedy, we extend our heartfelt condolences once again to the people of Sri Lanka and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.

This barbaric attack underscores once again the imperative of a resolute global fight against all forms of terrorism. Regardless of where or by whom it is perpetrated or under what diseased motive, any terrorist act targeting innocent human lives is a common enemy of humanity and global peace, violating all human, moral, and legal principles and constituting a grave crime against humanity's conscience.

We must explicitly state that terrorism has no religion. These attacks—witnessed yesterday in New Zealand and today in Sri Lanka—aiming to transform differences into hostility and cultivate an atmosphere of fear, insecurity, and instability, are fueled by the same dark sources. They threaten not only common human tranquility and the future of humanity, but also global peace itself.

Regrettably, innocent people pay the price for violence unleashed by extremist and separatist paramilitary movements, which receive financial and political backing from developed states capable of conducting global operations to advance their narrow political and economic interests by sowing discord among religious and ethnic groups.

The fundamental teaching of all religions is peace and justice. Whatever ideology or religious affiliation they claim, the perpetrators and mastermind forces behind such heinous attacks must be exposed immediately, and effective cooperation mechanisms must be developed with all states—primarily Sri Lanka today—to eradicate the sources of terrorism.

The people of Sri Lanka have suffered immensely from environments of violence over long years, paying huge socio-economic costs. It is evident that these sinister attacks aim to destroy the atmosphere of peace and harmony in this beautiful nation—a mosaic of diverse religions and ethnicities—by sowing seeds of discord to induce chaos. Having suffered for decades from separatist terror movements, the people of Sri Lanka are among the societies best equipped to understand where internal conflict can lead.

During these days when negative unrest has begun to emerge due to provocation by dark centers, the paramount objective must be ensuring social tranquility immediately and preventing a terror atmosphere that targets innocent people unrelated to these attacks or destroys domestic peace. These malicious attacks by dark centers can only be thwarted through effective measures grounded in an inclusive, unifying, and peaceful perspective.

In this context, while extending our sympathies once again to the people of Sri Lanka, we invite both the Government of Sri Lanka and the entire international community to refrain from divisive discourse, display an inclusive and healing stance, and take all necessary measures with restraint.

We call upon the international community to demonstrate heightened sensitivity against terrorist activities and attacks worldwide without discrimination based on race, faith, or geography; to halt dark military, political, and economic operations conducted across various global regions, particularly in the Islamic geography, under the pretext of "might makes right"; and to exert greater effort for the tranquility and security of all humanity.
