November 1 Parliamentary Elections Press Release

Ali Kurt, Secretary General of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World, issued the following statement.

The Islamic world views elections in Turkey as its own elections. I wish to state that very significant and joyful messages regarding election results have arrived from across the Islamic world to our union, which has 302 member non-governmental organizations across 61 countries.

I believe severe games are played over the Islamic geography. The West, wanting to rule the Islamic world for its interests, executed major operations in many countries with the Arab Spring. I wish to state that major operations were also executed against Turkey, especially over the last two years. As Turkey, we passed through a vital election because the Islamic world viewed these elections as its own. On November 1, we saw unity. We received messages from influential figures worldwide who were at least as excited as us. They view Turkey as the last fortress of Islam and believe that if games played in our country succeeded, they would be impacted. Therefore, they showed immense sensitivity. I believe Turkey will continue to serve as a model for the Islamic world and that the Islamic geography must establish unity.

I believe a leader nation is needed to guide this unity. AK Party, which took a lesson from June 7, will Insha'Allah continue to do its part. The Islamic geography needs this strong voice. Turkey will Insha'Allah perform this mission rightfully. If Turkey is strong, the Islamic world is strong.

Atty. Ali Kurt
Secretary General, UNIW
